Steve and Kathe Unfreid are near life-long Alaskans.  Steve first came to Alaska from Southern California in 1980 to work with Central Alaska Missions in Glennallen. There he met his future wife Kathe who was also busy supporting the mission in her hometown.  After reconnecting at UAF in 1982, they were soon married in 1983. Following graduation, Steve was offered a commission in the U.S. Army where he served 20 years retiring as a lieutenant colonel. Both Steve and Kathe have extensive experience as educators and pastors for youth, men’s and women’s ministry. They also both share the same passion to see people step into their full God-given destinies through healing, deliverance, discipleship and worship. They have four children (all in Alaska) and 10 grandkids.

Rick and Trudy have been married for 37 years and have raised six children in Alaska and are a proud Papa & Nana to eight grandchildren. Both were raised in homes deeply committed to serving the church, and they have continued that legacy throughout their lives together. In response to God’s call, they moved to Alaska 33 years ago to serve as missionary pastors in a small Native village. That season helped shape their lifelong heart for ministry, discipleship, and serving the local church. Trudy has faithfully served in children’s and music ministry for many years, with a passion for nurturing faith and leading others in worship. Rick has spent the past 24 years as a pastoral counselor, serving in wholeness and freedom ministries and helping individuals walk in healing and spiritual growth. Rick and Trudy are committed to shepherding the body with wisdom, compassion, and a deep desire to see people grow in their relationship with Christ and live out God’s purpose for their lives.

Todd and Sonja have called Alaska home for most of their lives; they got married in 2005 and have three sons. While serving in youth, children's and worship ministry at their local church in the early 2000s, they both pursued further education. Todd received multiple licenses and ratings to fly helicopters and now works as a pilot for an oil company. Sonja earned a Bachelor's of Business Administration degree and previously worked as a Human Resources Professional, then transitioned to full time ministry. She has worked as a ministry director since 2017 and has served at Real Life since 2024, overseeing ministries and providing organizational design and support as our Executive Director of Ministries. Todd has served on sound, worship, and youth ministry teams and has helped launch a men's mentorship program at Real Life. Todd and Sonja are both passionate about helping others discover God's gifting in their own lives and helping them grow and see it to fruition! The whole Engle family enjoys serving in various ministries around the church.

Christine and her family moved to Alaska in 2011. She quickly fell in love with the outdoor lifestyle and enjoys camping, kayaking, hiking, and mountain biking. Christine holds a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work and previously worked for Child Protective Services. She completed her pastoral licensing requirements through Berean School of the Bible and has been pastoring since 2000. Christine has served on our pastoral team since 2024 overseeing our children's, youth, and young adult ministries. She is passionate about encouraging young people to find their identity and purpose in Jesus!

Fidencio "Fide" moved to Alaska in 2013 to be closer to family. He enjoys the outdoors as well as pickleball! Fide has a background in IT support and construction. He completed his pastoral licensing requirements through Berean School of the Bible and has been pastoring since 2018. Fide joined Real Life in 2024 and serves as the Worship Pastor for our adult and youth ministries, as well as serving as a small group leader for youth ministry. He is passionate about mentoring others into deep, personal relationship with Jesus.
